Hi.
Bought a 4003w and very happy with the strings it came set up with. Has anyone any idea what they would be?

They seem to be a lighter gauge than that.

Yep, that's them. I like the stock strings a lot, but I prefer the balanced tension approach with Kalium strings. I think they sound about the same, and the Kalium .106's are only $25 a set.

Hi all,
One tool I find real useful is a dial caliper. I always use it to check string gages. You'd be surprised how far off some string sizes are compared to their advertised diameter. You don't need an expensive one and if you can't find one locally, you can find one on evilbay cheap. Micrometers can also be used but you don't need that kind of accuracy.

I won't be seeing by reissue 4003s for about 6 more months. I'll be using Fender 9050L .45 - .100. I've used them on all by basses for years. I won't change unless a setup problem pops up. Dave

Do you prefer the Stainless Kalium or the Hybrid?

POTR sells a Curt Mangan set with those stock RIC gauges. Very nice if you like those thinner A and D strings.
