Early 73 are awesome.

I have one of these 73's as well, except in Jetglo. It has the same full width poured inlays and, of course, checkered binding.

VERY NICE!!!!!!! Did you get that from Olivia's Vintage?? They have/had three 1973 4001's.

Yes I did, it's my second from them this year, they have been really great to work with and their packing and shipping was great.

I emailed Joseph over at Olivia's and made him an offer which he accepted .... counting minutes till it's here.

This one seemed the best of the three, and had all the goodies, including a "split" bridge, the other two show just how transitional 1973 was for the model. One has Checkered binding but the new inlay style markers, the other has white binding, neither has the split bridge.

There are a few minor blemishes, but, for a 42 year old instrument it's in great shape

lovely board Jeffrey, and I'm envious - despite being lucky enough to own 5 Ricks, not one of them has triangle inlays...

Would you happen to have a picture of your wiring harness. Looking at mine I'm surprised at the "mess" the soldering looks like it was done by a blind man, and I have to think the quality of work leaving the factory was a lot better than what I see on mine.

The neck volume pot has been replaced. There is a non original white jumper wire bypassing the bass cut cap. The tone caps were usually orange Spragues with different insulation on the leads. Ya, someone's been in there all right.

I figured that, it dosen't look like factory quality work, and I've also had that confirmed by a factory source.

I'm think that maybe I should replace the whole harness with a new factory one which includes the "push-pull" pot

Thoughts ?

Jim, get Dane to make you a period correct harness. Way better than a stock modern one. He can even add the push/pull. That's what's going in my '68.
