Hey Guys!
It's time to buy another Rickenbacker bass

As I'd like to buy a new Rickenbacker I have the chance of buying either a Midnight Blue 4003 or a Snowglo 4003 from my local music shop. Both are perfectly set up and both have that unique Rickenbacker growl and aggressiveness
But I can't decide on which color I should get (both cost the same) and I'd really like to know your opinion so thanks in advance guys

Welcome to the Forum, David. The Snowglo one gets my vote just because it is comparatively rare. Rickenbacker made only a few of these a couple of years ago, and you're lucky to have found one for sale. Enjoy!

+1
Plus, if the Midnight Blue is from a certain time period there's a chance that there are finish issues. I recall there was a problem with the finish bleeding into the binding for a couple years.
But the Sno-glo is rare. Scap that up.

I love that Midnight Blue, so clearly that's what you should choose for my vicarious approval! I'd be paranoid about the inevitable scrapes and dings showing up more on the Snoglo, but I suppose (heaven forbid) a chip through to bare maple would kind of fade into the background on white.

Well normally I'd say blue all the way (ANY blue!) but in this instance I really like that Snowglo.

Yep....Another vote for Snoglo here. I'm surprised it was the same price since the color commanded a higher price when it was available.

The music shop owner doesn't know anything about basses so he doesn't know that this color is more expensive than a "standard" color
So...y'all guys think I should go with the snowglo?

If the shop is a genuine Rickenbacker dealership, he may have paid the same dealer cost for any Rick bass. Some dealers up the price if they know that a scarce model/color is in demand. If he is NOT a Rickenbacker dealer, then you should consider that both these basses are "used" even if they are in mint condition. Only authorized Rickenbacker dealerships are allowed to provide the warranties. If he got it from another shop or a previous owner, the warranties are not transferrable. If you discover a warranty issue after you've bought it, the instrument may not be covered (if it is not "new" and your dealer is not an authorized dealer). If you can determine that there is no warranty, that may help you negotiate a better price.
