I was just watching the HISTORY OF THE EAGLES and was wondering what year Randy's 4001 was. Anyone know?

I'm guessing it's a '77. I suppose it could be a year or two earlier, but the earliest concert footage I see it on is from '77 and it appears that he may have been playing it pretty much exclusively on that tour. Prior to that he's playing some other brand who's name escapes me. I think it begins with an F!

See my identical twin '77 4001 here:

And how about the voice that guy had? O.M.G!!!
It wasn't just "like butter." It WAS butter!

Thanks, Jeff. And you are right. His vocals were amazing. Too bad his health isn't good. It would have been cool to see him on tour with them.

Appropriate! I was in a band in 1977 playing some Eagles and I was using my mid '70s 4001 for that band. 8)

I wonder if he had an earlier Rick too though. One Of These Nights was late '74 into '75 I think, and that intro sounds very much like a Rick neck pickup to me... :) :)

That was the exact song I was thinking about when I read the first post.

Yeah, I'd probably say '77 too because the neck seems pretty thin, the horns seem a little thicker, and the skunk stripe. Not too sure though. All I know is its later than '74 with the neck pickup spacing, but mabye its true that he could have had an earlier one. I too thought one of these nights sounded like a rick. Interestng...
