Limited "signature" editions

I am suddenly very sad and feeling much older tonight. Glenn Frey (Eagles) has passed. Although he probably never laid hands on the Rickenbacker 2030GF bass with his reprinted signature, it is disturbing to realize that we have lost all three of the personages behind Rickenbacker's "signature" editions in the last seven months: Chris Squire in June, Lemmy Kilmister in December, and now Frey. I'm going to read through those chapters in my book once again tonight in remembrance.

Yes, it truly sad in every respect, including that they were special artists in relation to Rickenbacker. :(

I totally agree. Very sad news.

A horrible year for Baby boomer era musicians so far.

When they pass, the fact that the musical heroes of our youth were usually only a decade or two older than us, focuses our attention on our own mortality.
May Messrs. Squire, Kilmister & Frey all Rest In Peace, and may their musical memories remain indelible.

And of course David Bowie, even though he wasn't a Rick artist.

I found this image on google. It says it's from the Hard Rock Florence. Does anyone know more?

I still don't know what albums Bowie used it on, but this 70s era BG 480 is in the Hard Rock Cafe in Florence Italy. He seems to have signed it in 1995 - so I gather it was before then. :o

Be nice to see a new 480 if RIC was gonna do the LE signature thing again.

His bassist Trevor Boulder (one the Spiders From Mars) was a Ric player.

I got to see Bowie and the Spiders live, you're right, solid as a rock, and wow, I didn't realise he had passed away in 2013
