I have always bought guitars with Nitro finishes. These I would not open the case after delivery for 12-24 hours. My 650 arrived this morning after being in a tick Durocher very cold weather. What is the rule of thumb regarding opening the case? Thanks.

The same, just go out and play in the snow for a few hours, then shovel said snow, then go out to dinner, perhaps by then you can open the case. Depending on how cold the package feels I will pull the case out of the box after an hour or so, then just go play some other instrument.

Congrats on getting the 650...if you provide pics. Otherwise, it hasn't happened.

Depends on a few things. If you can stand to, wait 24 hours.
You can crack the box, wait a few hours, take the case out (but don't open it), wait a few hours, see how the case feels, play it by ear.

Fortunately for you, we are having unseasonably warm weather here in Texas right now, so PM me for my address, and you can send it to me for defrosting. I will return it to you promptly when it is safe to do so
