Greetings all,

Having recently purchased a Rickenbacker, I thought it apropos to join this board. As a member and lurker on other guitar boards, I have to say this board seems noticeably more literate. I don't anticipate being a frequent contributor here, but will certainly endeavor to make sure my occasional posts maintain the integrity of this site.

A little about me: I'm pretty much a living room player only and spend most of my playing time making things up, then forgetting what I made up. Been playing for years and still trying to figure out the instrument. I consider myself a Fender guy, but recently came across a virtually unplayed 2014 330 fireglow and was smitten enough to buy it. Odd, because I don't particularly like red guitars and whenever I had tried Rics in the past I felt the nut width was too narrow.

Honestly, I don't think the Ric plays as well as my Tele or Strat, primarily because the glossy fretboard makes string bends less facile, and bending is big part of my playing. The slightly narrower nut width and the action--which is lower than my Fenders--really aren't as much of a factor as I thought they might be. What I absolutely love about my Ric is the tone and the range of sounds. Especially the juicy retro-ness of the middle position and the punchy twang of the bridge position.

Hope to learn some things here and, hopefully, not succumb to GAS for a 660!

Welcome Joseph!

What Ricks do, they do very well.

Got any photos?

Hmm... tried to upload a photo using "Upload attachment" and got this: "The image file you tried to attach is invalid." It's a jpg, and it uploaded fine on the StratTalk forum.

How large is the file pixel-wise and MB-wise?

Joseph welcome aboard. I believe the nut width on a Fender and Rickenbacker are the same, 1 5/8. But a Fender is wider as you progress down, so wider at the 12th fret is the usual measurement cited. Gibson is wider at the nut, 1 3/4. But this is all from memory so could be wrong.

Welcome to the RRF!
:D

I'm not sure what "invalid" means, but JPG pictures should be fine. The max size is 1280x1280, but it usually tells you the size is too big. There's also a max kB limit, but I think it's pretty big and again, tells you it's too big...

I size photos at 1200 pixels (longest side) max for a bit of a margin and 500 KB (usually a tad under) to prevent them not being accepted.

Also, for JPG files, if you remove the EXIF data you can reduce the overall file size quite a bit. The EXIF data is all the stuff that tells what sort of camera, lens & settings, etc. A lot of resizers (like FastStone) allow you to remove it...
