Fender MIM 70's bass neck
So, I ordered a MIM 70's Jazz Bass neck for my 66 tribute project. (I wanted the block inlay and bound neck look). When I unpackaged it, I noticed something interesting. The 'block inlays' were screened/painted on. I am disappointed. I thought they would at least put cheap plastic in the inlays. I looked at a few Squier basses with inlays and they're plastic inlays. Even my Squier Bass VI has 'real' inlays. I like Fender basses as much as my Ricks. They're fun to mod out. But C'mon, at least put some legitimate inlays on the one that says Fender.

That's pretty cheesy.

Cheesy, indeed. How do they look? Can you see the woodgrain underneath, and is there clear coat over them?

Sad thing is, it's paid for, I installed it and from afar it looks pretty damn good. Up close, you can see the grain through it. Oh well. It's getting gigged regularly so..
