FYI, I talked to Bruce Beard at Wildwood Guitars this morning...Rickenbacker is shipping a couple of 4003 SnowGlos to him today. If you want one, you better call him NOW and put down a deposit: (303) 665-7733. Or you can try Pick Of The Ricks or your favorite dealer.

You're welcome! :D

You should be able to get a new S for $1200. Send it to Larry Davis (Davis Guitar Works) for a refin, whatever color you want!

Anybody have a ballpark figure on what that would cost? $1200 or so for bass + refin cost?

Jeff,

The nicest fingerboard I ever seen on any Ric I owned ! She is stunning, really! Also, the Snowglo finish is indeed amazing and the fingerboard really shines through!

FWIW, Cindalee Hall confirmed in the Rickenbacker forum that only 15 of the 4003 SNGs were made in this years' run.

I was lucky to get one. :D

How'd you get a black pickguard and truss rod cover on a 2013? I was under the impression that Ric stopped doing black many years ago.

The pickguard is possibly a Pickguardian (or, other brand), and the TRC is, most likely, repainted like that.

They still make black raised-letter TRCs for the 4004 series. If you don't like the chrome or gold lettering, just sand it off and hand paint white. Or it could be white one painted black and the letters sanded off.

It's possible that RIC still has some black pickguards laying around. Some of their one-off specials in the last few years even included black hardware (metal) so they may still have a few of those items, too. They stopped offering the black trim/black binding/blackened hardware in 2002, but that didn't mean they ran out.
