Hi, everyone:
Has anyone played or bought this "C" Series Rickenbacker 12-string guitar? Apparently, it has different bracing and sounds different from the 360-12. I am considering buying a new 12-strig Ric and I would like to know:
1) Do the NEW 360-12s still give that 1960s "jingle-jangle" sound (of course, with a compressor and "toaster" pickups)
2) How does the 360/12 C63 compare in sound to the 360/12?
Thanks,
Karl

Re: 360/12 C63
There are a lot of other factors in the sound difference between the vintage reissue C-series and a standard 360, the biggest being the pickups (hi gains vs. toasters).
I think if it's the 60s Byrds tone you're after, the C-series will get you closer to it, but a standard 360/12 through a good amp and compressor played by somebody who knows what they're doing is about 99.9% there, tonally. They all kind of "jangle"
The biggest difference I find is how the guitar sounds unplugged. Since a C-series has a cross-braced body, it resonates a bit more than the standard models.

A modern 360/12 will have hi-gains and 24 frets (resulting in different pickup placement), thus have more mid-range punch. The C63 with toasters, 21 frets, has more sparkle. If you want 60's, you want the C.

I have Both a V/ 64 360/12 and a Newer 360/12, the both sound awesome! I swapped out the hot toasters and the hi gains and put the 7.4 scattered wounds in. It's like night and day. In my opinion either one will give you what your looking for. Garh
