Pretty neat! I'd hate to gig with it though... satin = dent magnet.

As far as I was able to determine, it has the same features as the Guitar Center special from a couple of years back. Not sure which came first of they were concurrent.

I know it is an old post, but I will be receiving one of the 35 units made for the Japanese market tomorrow morning! This one had a fretless conversion and seems almost unplayed...
Any other owners of this series?

Bass arrived this morning ! …I knew I was taking a risk buying an instrument without trying it …but the price was quite good so I did…and I am so happy I did:) what an amazing instrument !
The finish and quality Are outstanding. The neck profile is simply amazing ! I come from playing a double bass so it really feels like playing a mandoline:-D The Fretless conversion to me is of an excellent quality …they even covered the dots of the fingerboard (not anymore a fretboard!) with matching grain wood…and relocated the side dots to the right sounding position (frets) the frets have been filled with same veneer of the fingerboard so they are not really visible …which I like …
Just changed the strings for labella 750N and the sound is quite close to the double bass…
Will post some pics soon :) my first rik bass….and couldn’t be happier :)

Well, here is the beast!

After a few days playing at home at very low volume I took it to the rehearsal room last Thursday. I play double bass/ sing in a three member band in a kind of garage/surf/ rockabilly kind of stuff...so i was very curious to hear how the rik would perform in such scenario...well, i was gladly surprised! (so the other bandmates)...it added a new color to the band...with lot of punch, added extra tone clarity and of course i felt light as a feather :-) For the slap bass songs still can do the job and sounds pretty cool...not the same...but a very unique sound.
The bass is very well constructed, the satin finish is marvellous and the neck is very very slim (same width as my' 67 jaguar guitar !) considering I come from something larger than a real baseball bat, this opened a new window and allowed me to play things i was not able to do with the double bass, like chords and smoother arpeggios...
The fretless conversion is very well made but still have to get used to the hand positions ( i end up looking at the dots which distracts me a little while singing)
So in conclusion, it is a very unique bass that really fits my way of playing and sound. Definitely a keeper!

Wonderful figuring on the fingerboard, and nice clean grain on the body wings!
