Rickenbacker toasters - genuine?

Hi to everyone on the forum from an '88 Mapleglo 330 owner (this is my first post btw even though I've been reading all the threads),

I spotted a pair of Rickenbacker toasters on Gumtree that the seller says are genuine ones, but I just want to ask those with more experience for advice. Do these look genuine to you? As far as I know, toasters haven't been made with ceramic magnets yet...

By the way the neck measures at 7.4k and the nexk at 8.7k - the guitar looks genuine.

Apologies if I posted this in the wrong thread...

They look too tall, and have rivets instead of screws. I'm leaning toward fakers. Google "rickenbacker toaster" and click "images" and you'll immediately see the difference. Welcome!

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the reply. I suspected they might not be real but I wasn't sure. Don't know how I should break it to the seller though...

I see the guitar is sold. Did you buy it? The one with the fake toasters?

The ad was for the pickups, not the guitar (although the guitar appeared to be genuine). Luckily I didn't go through with it...

I couldn't tell as the ad had already been deleted(!) when I checked it out.

Hopefully it didn't go to someone who wasn't as knowledgeable :(

Should have taken screenshots of the ad, but didn't think of it...

This is something that used to be a regular thing to do on the RRF, for the historical record, if nothing else.

What you see here is about 1% (if that much) of the kind of activity that used to go on here.

It's not so much as the activity is down (which it is) as the required resizing is a pain for many. Jeff seems to have some secret I wish he'd share with me LOL

Simple, Jason. Get the inexpensive, but quite useful Photoshop Elements.

I do 99% of my RRF activity at work and can't download software on my work machine! Dang!

You don't have any kind of photo/paint/resize software on your work computer?

MS Paint and a bunch of kickarse spreadsheets.
