Nice page Michael, as usually, but i wonder why you didn't mention three other PRT songs which appeared on 30th anniversary collection?
As for the single itself - really sorry. Not an exception from the infamous rule "you cannot come back to where you've been once". Unfortunately. But also not another case of "badly underrated", imho. Both songs were quite nice (although i nearly broke my poor head trying to find out what the B-side's about - can anyone please explain?! nice song right but quite a puzzle!), vocals are moving enough even if nowhere near their famous 60s harmonies, but the arrangement... i wonder whose was the idea to get the A-side all drowned in synths. "Innocent victim" had more potential imho: it was loud enough, shaking enough and really moving (a bit hysteric maybe but that's not a problem). Vocals are 5 out of 5, nice guitar work (but i still have a feeling that it's actually John Fogerty playing. sorry) - all in all, it could have worked. Maybe. And "A good way to fall" was a really nice piece from Frank Allen.

I liked "Hollywood" the better of these offerings. Also agree with Sheena that "A good way to fall" is a nice Frank performance. But I also agree with her; In general, I'm not overly excited about his solo singing voice. At least compared to the strong personal voices of Tony, Mike and Chris.

"I Don't Want To Be The One" was remixed by Peter Collins at Loose End productions for the PRT single. This mix was not available for SEQUEL's "30th Anniversary Collection" 3-CD set so PRT's original ('unadorned') version was used. The single mix was found for the "40th Anniversary Collection" though.

A guy,another Yorkshireman like myself, produced Innocent Victim, a guy called John Verity who went on to produce Mike Pender's one and only solo release, played guitar on that track too called "It's Over"
The Searchers were enthusiastic back in the early 80's about Innocent Victim and were hopeful it would be released as a single, sadly wasn't to be.

John Verity? Didn't he play guitar with (now defunct) British outfit Argent in the mid 70's? 'Circus' is the name of their album that comes to my mind.

Timothy: what's the difference between the version i've heard and the single version, actually? there are... no keyboards on the single?!
