Lemmy

Let me start by saying I have nothing against Motörhead.
I can’t help but notice the widespread number picture posts on the Ric-related internet sites featuring the man and his Rics.
My question is...are people captured by Lemmy or the carved-top basses, or perhaps both. I’m curious to know this about the legion of followers.

Remember Lem was playing Rics long, long before the signature basses; since around 1972. He’s famous for many other Rics (for me the most iconic is his Hawkwind bass with the T/Bird pickup) and for many people was the introduction to Rickenbackers. He certainly was for me; in fact I learned to play back in ‘80/‘81 by playing along to his Hawkwind albums. Legendary, unique tone, iconic, charismatic character.

I love his old sound when he still used a neck pickup on one of his Rickenbacker's. And I practically learned playing bass by learning to play Motörhead songs (like him).

All of the above. Lemmy is 50% of why I play a Ric bass. I love his style, his tone, his riffs...love Motorhead and love Ric basses. I feel like one couldn’t exist without the other. I have a mirror pickguard and ace of spades on my bridge pickup for Lemmy.
