This is a recent acquisition. It's a September '68 4001 in a scarce Jetglo finish.

It's one of the last '60s horseshoe pickup equipped basses.

The fretboard is darker than most...& darker in person than in the pics.

I wonder if it was chosen to use for a Jetglo bass specifically to compliment the finish...?

It has a thin neck & plays great...& it growls like a lion!!!

The condition is a strong 8 out of 10...maybe an 8 1/2.

It's all original except for the truss rod adjustment nuts. I got it from a Swiss seller,

who replaced the original ones with metric nuts. I had them switched back to 1/4".

Perhaps the ultimate closet queen.

The necks on the 60's were so slick and comfy, and yeah cranked up they indeed growl quite well.

Consider me one jealous fellow, how did you find it, out of curiosity?
(and I'm going to do my best not to ask the price for my own sanity)

It does have it's share of small nicks and love bumps if you look closely, but nothing major.

The back has some light buckle rash. The front of the body is very clean.

The previous owner did take very good care of it!

I did start a recording project in January, which has been halted by the virus...but I

am going back to the studio in a couple weeks and will cut a track or two with it.

Wish I had a better pic of the catalog bass. From what I gather, not many '60s

basses had Jetglo finishes. I think they started making more starting in '67/'68, but

still they're rare.

Agreed. Over the many years I have been casually looking, I have come across only one other '60s JG 4005WB beside my own that I sold in 2011 (purchased in 1973). That other one was in a collection in Japan.

I’ve been drooling over that bass for months on reverb even with the sold status. That bass is pure art.
