Info needed: Pre-'85 hairpin truss rod channel depth

Post by ilan »

What is the exact depth of the channels for pre-'85 hairpin truss rods?

Thanks!

Sadly I forgot to take exact measurements - but it's only a hair deeper than the hairpin rod's thickness itself.
That's because you only need a tiny bit of play for it to be removable, and there's no wood strip between the rod and the fretboard. No curvature either - it's dead straight.

Hope that helps!

I just took my truss rod cover off and measured, and my '81 4003 both channels are exactly 1/4" or 6.5mm depth.
