Hi people

This is my first post in the forum.

I have just pulled the trigger on an eBay purchase of a 1997 Rose Morris manufactured in ‘89

I wasn’t actually looking for this specific model I was after a 360v64 /6 but after looking at this I thought I couldn’t wait any longer and I had to have it.

I wanted a Rick with toasters this time rather than the previous 330 with hi-gains I owned for a few years.

I’ll be honest I don’t really know that much about this model and it was too far to go to travel to try it out but I got it at an ok price. I have a mate who specialises in buying and selling vintage or rare gear and he told me “at that price it’s worth a punt.

I play through a Vox AC15 HW1X which is an amp I love

So my question have you guys got any advice on what to look out for with this model and what is the spec like (are the pick ups hot or are they vintage spec) how true to vintage spec is it ? And what’s the e general perception on the model

I really couldn’t find anything on YouTube about this model so thought I’d come to the best place

Thank you people

I’ve attached a picture

Hi Ash ,and congrats!

I was looking at that myself but didn't bid, great price ,even for a re-fretted guitar.

The Toasters should be hot from that time frame, 11-12K i believe ,that's what's in my 89 360/12V64 that i bought new .
Bracing is different from the original 60s spec Rose Morris, as is the body shape ,but not by much.
If i'm wrong with any of this info more knowledgeable members will be along to correct me.

Pretty cool guitar! 8)

Welcome to the Forum Ash! 8)

I agree with John's synopsis of the guitar. As an added note, I had a 1966 340 and compared it with my 1997SPC PT Limited Edition (sort of the forerunner to the 1997/1998 reissue series), they felt, played, and sounded pretty much identical.

Congrats, that’s a nice score! Reminds me of the Pete Townshend model.

I had it home for one day and then went off to be set up.

Neck definitely needed adjusting and the action was ridiculous high

Can’t wait to get it back to play it.

I’ve got a hand wired AC15 HW1X and when I plugged it into that it sounded great

I have one of these guitars, also. I also have a 330 VP.

Subtle differences in overall feel - the 1997's neck feels a bit thinner, compared to the slightly chunkier 330.

I don't have specs on each guitar; the bodies feel very similar, but the F hole on the 1997 gives it some added visual appeal.

That's about it! If you'd call the 1997 a 330 with an F hole, I wouldn't argue.

Good luck with your new guitar!
