So, is this the secret to Rickenbacker's renowned "straight neck, low action" profile?
I already want a 620 and a 12 string with toasters lol. Soon is already now hehe.mike_d wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 9:30 am Congratulations on your first Rickenbacker, but be careful. Soon you’ll be wanting another. And another, and another, etc. Enjoy!
Thank you! I am totally shocked, as a former fender/gibson guy, i wanted to own a Rick for years, so far, it has far exceeded my expectations. Thank you to you and Crisp, maybe a Capo does open it up, i could definitely try soon as i get a good one.Tommy wrote: Mon Jun 06, 2022 5:50 pm You've made a great decision. Looks nice.
Now get a capo on that guitar. Just place the capo anywhere and start playing. Then move the capo and start playing again. It's odd, but a capo on a Rickenbacker really unlocks some wonderful tones. Can't explain why, but it just does.
I have some bad news for you...you need another guitar.Polyglot wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 6:12 pm I am totally shocked, as a former fender/gibson guy, i wanted to own a Rick for years,
I have never tried a Gretsch, but always admired the Falcons and my favorite punk band the Cramps, their guitarist Poison ivy played a 6120 i believe a 58 or 59 model? Now, if i only had half of her skill, maybe i could be a rockabilly screamer too.Tommy wrote: Wed Jun 08, 2022 12:03 pmI have some bad news for you...you need another guitar.Polyglot wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 6:12 pm I am totally shocked, as a former fender/gibson guy, i wanted to own a Rick for years,
You have:
Fender - check
Gibson - check
Rickenbacker - check
You need a Gretsch. Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, and Gretsch. Those four brands really provide a perfect palette to create any tones you want.
Very true, and also a very very steep downhill drop8mileshigher wrote: Fri Jun 10, 2022 12:51 am Congratulations !! It's a beauty. I'm waiting for your confirmation of getting that second Rickenbacker .... then its downhill from there !
You know we all joke around about that -- once you buy one Ric, a second and a third are not far behind -- but I wonder if stats/numbers really prove that to be true. Is Rickenbacker the brand that leads the league in recidivism?8mileshigher wrote: Fri Jun 10, 2022 12:51 am I'm waiting for your confirmation of getting that second Rickenbacker .... then its downhill from there !
