4003 measurements with hipshot. Compare to your 4001:

Just for reference my e and g strings are 6/64 at the 17th fret and my A and d strings are 7/64 at the 17th fret.
Now, the top of the fretboard measured from the body face where the neck connects to the body not measuring from the pickguard but measuring from the body face next to the last unfretted fret of fingerboard measures 11/32 to the top of the fingerboard. My hip shot saddle still have 6/32 on a, d strings and 4/32 on e and g I can lower them before they bottom out. So I can still get the strings way lower. I’m not sure but it’s possible that if I lower them all the way the strings might actually bottom out on the frets. So this is a 2016 4003 so you can compare those measurements with your 4001 and see if the hipshot will work.

I don’t see how that’s possible. Is there a way to purchase an original tailpiece new? Not so sure I would trust a used one as it may be warped too.

Oh, have RIC taken them off their books?
Some suppliers (eg. Rickysounds in the UK) have them.

I guess laying them flat on table can confirm no lift.
