Scam?
They’re advertising it for free in excellent condition in the pictures look good and real but makes me a little nervous about making the transaction.

Are you worried that it might be a stolen instrument or something? If I was in your shoes, it would already be in my hands!

If something is too good to be true — guess what?

Sounds like the ex figured out how much that "stupid guitar" is really worth.

It sounds like somebody just entered a simple error in the Facebook marketplace listing (which is easy to do, if you forget to include the price) and a lot of people on some Rickenbacker forum made a lot of assumptions.

I put in a lowball cash offer. If a bird in the hand (for the seller) proves to be worth two flyin' then it will be my first vintage instrument. But I am sure there will be a bidding war over it.

Pretty bass, from the front anyway, but other than it appearing to be a late 70s bass, there's precious little information. I never realized you could sell something off your facebook account.
:D :D :D

Glad you chimed in. I was wondering which era 4001 it was.
All I could notice is no gap tooth bridge and no horseshoe.
But has a fat upper wave, so that would mean 4001 at least.
But I could not figure the era.

I am gonna go take a look at it tomorrow. Price is too low to not check it out at least. Plus it will be the first 4001 I have seen.

It’s sold. Not to me.
