It continues to look great on my deck:

And even better in my hands. It's been a while since I owned a Rick that wasn't built under Ike, so I have a few questions:
  • I notice that the tuners (sorry, keywinds) say "RIC DELUXE"; anyone know who actually built them?
  • The fretboard is stunning, but the "chechen" doesn't really look like a rosewood grain to me. Is it definitely Caribbean rosewood?
  • I happen to have a spare toaster sitting around from a partscaster that never happened. The screws are different to this guitar; is this a feature of the Vintage series or just that I bought the pickup a while back?

I just got the new Rickenbacker book, and in reading the chapter about John Hall it says that when he took over he wanted to standardize the manufacturing. Part of this was that they had used a combination of slotted and phillips screws on the pickups til then, so he switched to all phillips. The exception would seem to be some of the more recent vintage re-issue models.
