EB should use a scientist to edit their promo blurbs Cobalt itself is not an alloy (it's an element), so the use of "other alloy" is a non sequitur. A more accurate wording would probably be, "Our proprietary cobalt-containing alloy provides a stronger magnetic relationship between pickups and strings than that with any other alloy previously available." Likewise. I had a leftover 50 round wound cobalt bass string, so I trimmed it to try on a guitar. I heard no difference on the guitar compared to a typical NPS, D'A XL.
