1 off 3503 bass

Post by 9c1ny »

Sure most of you saw it posted on the Facebook groups or Talkbass, if not here ya go.
2022 3503
Has dual truss rods and a lacquered board, nice reasonably slim neck profile, sounds and plays great

Kind of strange pickguard shape at the back. Covering up a lot of real estate with a piece of plastic. I'd rather see something more like we see on a 4003 or more like on the six and twelve string guitars have, like I did on my 2030.

It has lots of clues to the ones on the '50s - early '60s 4000 model, and to some of the "Lucy" variants.

Is that a BlueBoy?
I saw one going for 5,000 on reverb.
That was a good investment. I can't believe how expensive all Rics are these days.

Agreed. That is a beautiful bass, thoroughly ruined by a plug-ugly pickguard. I'm also not keen on the fact that the pickguard appears to be made of a soft/flexible plastic that distorts easily around the screwheads.

What do the controls do?
V-V?
I don't see a selector switch.
It would be interesting to see what is under the pick guard.

Pickguard is the normal plastic Ric uses, controls are V/ V

Thanks for the pic!
Anyone know is this supposed to be a reissue one off of a Ric model from the 50's or 60's?
If not, who designed it I wonder or what is the reason for the design? And why the odd model number?
Sorry if I don;t know the history of this model.

It's basically a 350 series guitar with a 4003 neck , 350 + 4003 = 3503

It has some nods to the 60s w the pickguard and what not.

Ric designed it and sold it direct through their botique, why? Because they can I suppose ;p
