Looks like we may be welcoming back a long lost model to the standard catalogue before long…

Link isn't working...

are we talking the XC models? These were released as a 90th anniversary models. XC is Roman numeral for 90. There is a 4005XC and a 480XC, I have not played either but hear they are very nice editions.

It’s on Ben’s IG account, which is private. If you don’t follow him you won’t be able to see it.

It’s not the XC, it’s a real deal 4005.

Well , it’s frozen over. I gotta say that it’s wonderful news , I’m already wondering what might go so I can afford one. Left kidney , or right one.

thanks John and Paul.... did see it on FB too. I don't IG so I guess I'll have to pickup the dirty version from the kids on the street! I wonder what kind of price tag will be associated with it?

I'd like to see a three-pickup model: if the 4005 can be thought of as a stretched 360 turned bass, then a 3-pickup model would be a stretched 370.

I think id let go of some basses for one. Some say they were underwhelmed by the originals but if anyone listened to my bass skills they would say the same... Sounds like a match made in heaven.

Thanks Ben, I will keep my eyes peeled. Although I sure it will be reported in this site almost immediately. It is a beautiful looking bass!!

1. Long, short, or regular Ric medium scale? I guess the latter?

2. Wouldn't it be priced like the XC basses, unless it's being put into production "permanently" like the 4003 series? If a limited run then itsa gonna be high! (Italian hand emoji).

3. I'm glad they are re-producing it! I'm sure it's gonna sound gorgeous!! I think now is a good time to try for another semi/hollow body on the market if the Guild Starfires are any indicators of sell-ability. Guild started re-producing them in 2013 and they are still in production so there must be a good demand for hollow/semi-hollow body basses these days.

What can you get for a kidney these days?

OK, I'll be the one, maybe bring back the 4004 as well?
