Yes, bring back that 4004 version with the 4003 sized neck!!

That's what I really want and am waiting for. A pick guard and binding is what I am trying to avoid from now on. So I am waiting for a 4004 before I ever get another Ric bass, unless my 4003 explodes, then I will be forced to get a 4003s if no 4004 available. At least no binding then.

Starting in late 2010, the 4004s had the same neck as the 4003.

What are you waiting for? They're out there. I have had three of them (still have two), plus one earlier-necked version before those.

Usually online sellers of used Rics I have seen price close enough to just spend a little more (or less) and just buy a new item. So the wait is on. Using my 4003 for now.
My idea of used instrument pricing is a lot less than most of the online sales I have seen on reverb/eBay/Facebook/CME, etc.
I’m also usually chicken to buy something sight unseen, though I did get my 4003 new back in 2016 from Dave’s Guitars in Wisconsin for $1550!!!!

That is a fine looking prototype though. I've always liked the design of 4005.

It's hard to believe this is really going to happen. After so many years of 'no way, no how' I guess I'll have to see orders being taken to really believe it. With that being said, I'm delighted to see the factory being creative and trying things out. I think I'm going to be in line for one as well.

I've never had a new brand 4005 (hopefully, a WB version), so this could be something new and different. Mine did not have the 5th knob so that, itself, could be interesting.

I'd like a short scaled/scaled down version of a 4005 but that isn't going to happen...

Closest you're gonna get is the 4005XC.

The bridge pickup is too close to the bridge and the neck pickup too close to the neck for my taste.

Funny how for the 38 years I had my 4005WB that never crossed my mind. Always worked for me, and the sound I got at gigs and on recordings I've made bear that out. For my taste, of course. 8)

Of course. But I was commenting strictly on the looks. Never having played one, I can't comment on the sound.
