Pretty sure it will work. There is still magnet there under that string.
Bring it on down to the shop and we'll chuck it up on the CNC machine and rout it out for you... if you're brave

I'd greatly appreciate that, Ben! I figure I'd make some sort of pickup surrounds if the wood chips from routing.RIC_FACTORY wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:50 pm Bring it on down to the shop and we'll chuck it up on the CNC machine and route it out for you... if you're brave
I'll try to get a day after the holidays.
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS!

Re: 4004cii/5
That’s nice of them to do that for you. I bet it’s gonna sound and look fantastic! Please post back with results!!
Re: 4004cii/5
Looks amazing maybe a reissue of the 4004cii is back on the cards then if this works out
Re: 4004cii/5
Is there some progress on this Joey? My 4004cii/5 has a very weak B and G string.rickenbrother wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 9:52 pm
There could be a solution for my Mapleglo. JH gave me a new 4003S/5 pickup cover to see if it will adequately cover the 5 strings. I think it will work well. I need to find a guitar repairman brave enough to make the new pickup routes. I'd do it myself, I've routed several bodies, but from what I've heard about routing figured maple, I'm not brave enough to do it myself and so far, I've had no luck.

Re: 4004cii/5
I need to find a guitar repairman that is confident to route the body without gouges or chips, whether for RIC pickups or not. I think Ben was just joking earlier in the thread.berth wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 9:00 amIs there some progress on this Joey? Re: 4004cii/5
I would LOVE to get a pair of the new 5 string pickups for my 4004Cii/5...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: 4004cii/5

Re: 4004cii/5
You don't like the Nordstrand pickups?
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: 4004cii/5
The bridge pickup is a Nordstrand, it's OK, but the Bartolini in the neck seems a bit muddy. It would be nice to see how the new RIC 5-string pickups sound...

Re: 4004cii/5
I forgot about the Bart. It's been several years since that 4004Cii5 came to visit me. I have couple of photos somewhere. Probably on my portable hard drive. I should have taken some with my two.cjj wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2023 6:39 pmThe bridge pickup is a Nordstrand, it's OK, but the Bartolini in the neck seems a bit muddy. Re: 4004cii/5
If a pickup sounds muddy, it often helps to put in a higher resistance volume and/or tone pot. Helped a lot on my 4004Cii.cjj wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2023 6:39 pmThe bridge pickup is a Nordstrand, it's OK, but the Bartolini in the neck seems a bit muddy. Re: 4004cii/5
The stock pots in these basses actually measured 175k ohms, which is mud tone central. Running two pickups through one volume control is also tone suicide with the mid freq cut that results with the stock wiring. VVT or Balance/Volume/Tone Delivers MUCH better tone.
