Since you are in the U.K. It might take some investigating as to who to turn to for warranty issues, but I’m fortunate being in the US. Good luck!
It seems like the party may be over here  I bought the guitars in the USA so they might require me to send the parts back to Santa Ana. A UK fix would be a bit more convenient for the part where the new tuners come to me, but I'm fine either way, I just was most interested to learn (1) I wasn't crazy in terms of my experience; and (2) The company knows of the issue and considers it something covered by warranty.

I'll chase up Rickenbacker on this.

Best of luck and I hope you are able to get them replaced in a timely manner.

I have finally been able to drop off the 1993+ to my luthier after several weeks of delay due to bad weather, power outages and too many other obstacles. He’s installing the new tuners along with a new 12 saddle bridge. I may even have it completed by this Sunday if all goes well. Fingers crossed.

I am happy to report that I just picked up the 1993+ from my tech who installed the new Rickenbacker Deluxe tuners and did a new setup. The replacement tuners are fantastic and are much, much better than the ones that were originally shipped with the guitar. All the keys turn very smoothly and there’s none of that annoying backlash or sudden slipping. I had him put on a set of Curt Mangan flat wounds, instead of Thomastiks as I could not find a set.

Unfortunately, he did not install the Rickenbacker 12 saddle bridge as it did not want to play nicely with the courses without having to adjust the spacing on the E strings. I would like to thank Rickenbacker for making things right and replacing all of the tuners. It has made a world of difference and the guitar now plays as nicely as it looks.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear it worked out well. I still have to send in my warrantee cards, etc. and hope that Rickenbacker engages with me the way they engaged with you.

Mine were sent to me by Rickenbacker as warranty replacements. Check the Ric Boutique as they may be now shipping the new tuners. I saw that they had the long stemmed tuners in stock in sets of six.

You would need to contact Rickenbacker customer service and send them your guitars info, etc. In my case, I bought my guitar in April 2022 so it was considered under warranty. Couldn’t hurt to check.

It took a bit of effort but I did manage to get a new set for my RM 1993+. The ones on my 360/12c63 are OK save for the "small shaft" ones near the top of the headstock (I never knew there were two shaft lengths--I still can't see the difference!). But the company said they dont have a new provider of the small shaft ones so there isn't anything I can do there.

Kind of hilariously the customer services argued that what Ben Hall says on an internet forum is just an opinion, yada yada. The "the random opinion of some internet poster" argument doesn't really fly when, in this instance, the poster is the head of production for the company in question and he confirms the issue!

I didn't push back on the customer services guy though because I was very appreciative that Mr. Hall was candid and honest about the issue and making a point of it would just result in that level of candor never happening again, which no one wants. To be honest given that the (presumably outgoing in the near term?) CEO only ever showed up here to tell me what an idiot I was (there is a thread here from about 10 years ago where I talked about how weak the pickups were on the 325c58 and got a tongue lashing) this was a welcome change and made me feel a lot better about the company.

Right on! Glad you got the tuners replaced on the 1993+. I had a couple of conversations in the past with JH that he probably didn’t appreciate me calling out the company on the authenticity of some of the details on my 325c58 shortly afterI received it in 2002. I opened it up and noticed that the volume and treble pots were stamped “Made in Taiwan”. I just couldn’t keep my snarky remarks to myself. I guess John Lennon’s first Rickenbacker also had pots made in Taiwan! I believe they started soldering over the pots to cover up the back of the pots after that. It was an honest observation. :D

Funny how we had a run in with him over the same model. I remember my brother brought it onstage at a gig and he hit one chord and I gave him my back up guitar and said get rid of that thing. He ended up having the pickups wound a little hotter which helped. I gained even higher respect for John Lennon that he could play that model so well.

I do want to thank you again as it never would have occurred to me this was a warranty issue if you hadn't brought it up here.

Right on. Glad that I could help. I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience those **** tuners!
