Hi all,
I have a 1968 convertible 366-12-b - identical in appearance to this:
https://www.ronsvintage.com/guitars/ric ... l-366-12-b
The tuners had been replaced with by a previous owner and are oversize and look 'wrong' on a Ric - they're Kluson Deluxe, with a large, splayed-out sort of tuning peg 'knob', not the usual small oval shaped design. I'd like to restore them to a more appropriate model.
1) Can the tuning peg / knob and shaft be replaced on their own if I remove the cover plate, or would I need to replace the entire tuner assembly? If the latter, is this an easy swop-out procedure, or will things like drill holes need to be filled, re-drilled in new positions, etc?
2) Which model of tuners would be best for an authentic vintage Ric appearance? I've looked at the spare parts available from the Ric website but have read about concerns over modern ones - reliabilty, quality, etc.
Thanks for any thoughts.
John
