Not sure if this may be a factor, but first make sure you are plugged into the "Standard" jack and not the "Rick-O-Sound" jack. Others here who are experts with the electronics may help.

Wish I could help. The wiring is simple, so the problem has to be, as well.
I'd open it up, take some measurements on the pots. Might have to desolder a wire or two to get an accurate measurement.
I'm trying to think of what could cause your symptoms, but no luck so far.

Just spitballing here.
If the vintage tone switch is broken such that it doesn't close to short out the cap, that would explain the thin tone.
If the tone cap were shorted, that would make the tone control function as a volume control.

That's all I got, at least for now.

Maybe look at the ROS jack and make sure it is functioning properly. I think I'd reheat all of the solder joints (both ends of the wires) with the pot in question.

I have the Treble Bezel and chrome pickup ring installed on my 2023 4003 and don’t experience any hum, lack of hum, or other sound change when touching or not touching it.

Have tried putting everything back to stock with all the ground wires, pickup cover, &c, in their correct positions/locations to see if the problem persists?
