. . . a strikingly beautiful instrument. The 4005-style pickup mountings and tear-drop pickguard bring the Lennon 325's to mind.
Can anyone add to Ben's remarks about this one-off bass? This definitely is a model I wish RIC offered.

I love the look of these and I've seen some modded 4004s posted in the past. If one was hanging up in a store it would be hard to pass up.

I got to play it once! My recollection is that it had a massive shim under the tailpiece - a piece of pickguard cut to size.
Not that it matters

but I take full credit for
being the first person to correctly identify that the bass was indeed the one JPJ was playing in that grainy photo (previously thought to be a 4005).

Here's a Rick bass that was made with that bass in mind(not a repro, just inspired by it).
