I am close to completing the "return to more normal" work on the 1966 365 FG that was the subject of this thread:

viewtopic.php?t=380969

This is what it looked like in the original eBay auction:

The Gibson pickups have been replaced by RIC scatterwound toasters, the black tuners by Kluson-style reissues (IIRC Allparts), and the black upper pick guard by a RIC white one. The original wiring harness, which had been badly messed with, has been replaced by a modern-era RIC one.

I am close to having it all done (just need to put strings on and do a set-up) and will post pics once that is done.

Gary - did you ever refinish this 1966 Ric ??
I recall from the 2008 thread that it had a broken neck repair.

I finally got it back together (but there is a hiccough).

The glitch is that the neck pickup (a reissue scatterwound toaster) has low output. IIRC it was well matched with the bridge pickup, which still reads 7.5 kOhm and sounds great, before installation by Steve Soest. I've reached out to him since he did the soldering.

The neck appears stable and the intonation(and action) was nearly spot on when I checked it after putting the strings on. I think this will make a great player. 8)

Looking great! I think it's wearing its history nicely. 8)

The back of the neck and headstock look more like a brown Tobacco-burst than red Fireglo. It is interesting.

Yes, the original repair person, whoever that was, apparently didn't think he/she could replicate the original Fireglo and opted forthe next best choice.

Steve was able to repair the pickup, so this one is back to operational norms! 8)

It has its original case, so I'll need to take a picture of it in that, too ...as well as add pictures to the register entry. 8)
