Not much going on here anymore.
Has social media made actually meeting with real people obsolete?

Yes, and this theory has been proven.

I miss that stuff! I don't think it's 100% gone.

Here in SoCal, we were having them so often that we kinda got burned out on them ... but it would be nice to have one like the old days, with instruments displayed.

You don't have instruments displayed now?

I just now realized that NAMM has come and gone. I always looked forward to the reports and photos posted here….

I also miss the get-togethers. We used to have an annual event in Southern California.
Several reasons why they have gone away include:
Since the heydays of events we've had reaccessions, the plannedemic, and crazy inflation.
This forum drove enthusiasm for events and so many of the veteran members rarely looking in here or have completely stopped posting.
Several have gotten a bit older and their got-up-and-go has gotten-up-and-went.
There's a bit of "been there, done that" sort of mindset for some.
Then, it's what fellow veteran member Paul Azpeitia said, "getting enough people to commit to a time, date, and place is like herding cats."

IIRC the last few were strictly jamming/performing venues without a formal display area set up. If you check the picture threads, you can probably see how the format had changed over time.

Well, how about for a New Year’s Resolution for 2026, why don’t
we pursuit planning and promoting another So Calif Rickenbacker Confluence -Jam …. Hopefully to take place early in the year ?
Let’s see if we can “Herd Some Cats” one more time !
