I have a reissue horseshoe pickup with one of the height adjustment ears broken off. its a clean break, what could I glue this thing back on with? Super glue does nothing.

Ok, does anyone have a spare base plate they'd like to sell?

Epoxy or perhaps even JB weld, but both of those would not be a very permanent fix.

Have a machine shop make you a new plate.

Get a chunk of aluminum and cut it out with a hacksaw like the old days.

That's for sure!
I said that trying to be funny, but that's actually what I would do.

That happened on an old bass of mine (which I just bought back) in shipping. At the time they replaced the pickup under warranty.

How easy was it to make the baseplate?

Not to tough. I used some black plastic stock I had lying around.

Ah, I was thinking you’d made an aluminium one.

Not sure if the glue/adhesive fix would take the strain so you might have to make or find a new base. The threads stripped on my reissue HS so I swapped it for the aluminium base from a 60s lap steel that I luckily had. I fixed the plastic original with car body metal epoxy putty and the bolt sat in the putty at a height I’d set for the lap steel and once set it unscrewed no problem. I was a bit lucky there I think! Aluminium bar of the correct thickness should be easy to find and cut to shape should be fairly easy to tap a new thread into. Hope it works out.
