When you get a moment please let us know where you are from and when you became interested in Rickenbacker instruments. I am from Fredericton, New Brunswick Canada which is on the east coast of our country. Although I became enthralled with Rickembackers in the 1960s, it would be roughly 30 years later before I acquired one, a 350 Liverpool.

Hello everyone who's still here!
I am originally from Peoria, Illinois, but currently live in Costa Mesa, California.
I became interested in Rickenbackers when I ran across "Evil Bob"'s website, Rickenbacker Planet (IIRC the title... or is my memory that bad?) in the early days of wandering the Internet. I bought my first Rickenbacker, a 1992 360/12 Mapleglo, through that website's Dry Goods Exchange (IIRC the title) for sale/wanted page when I got a bonus at work.

Still here!
Born-n-raised in the east side of Cleveland, Oh! Hi! Oh! Did time in Cincinnati, Columbus, and Los Angeles but came back here in 1990.
First Rick exposure was an old high school friend who had a FG 4001 (that would have been around 1972), then I saw Genesis on their first US tour as an opener for It's A Beautiful Day on April 14, 1973 where I saw Mike Rutherford playing his RM1999 (I didn't know that was its designation at the time). Shortly after that I was on the hunt for a Rick bass of my own, in which I procured this bass in the fall of 1973.

I had no idea what its "name" was until ten years later when I was in L.A. for my brother's first (of three) weddings in March 1983. A friend and I went to Rickenbacker and procured a catalog (and a set of bass truss rods, just in case); I finally learned in the catalog that my bass was called the 4005WB. We also went to Norm's Rare Guitars where Norm taught us the Rick S/N decoder, whereby I learned my bass was made in February 1967.
I owned that bass for 38 years (I sold it in August 2011).
Many other Ricks have come and gone over time (basses and guitars); I am now down to just these two.

I'm originally from da Bronx, NY, and currently living in Southern California. I was a little kid in a music store one day with my older brother, who played guitar. I saw a Fireglo 4001 on display and thought it was the coolest looking guitar I had ever seen. I got a bit older and my interest in playing guitar and even moreso bass came to be. Then I realized Paul McCartney and Chris Squire were playing the brand of bass guitar I saw in the store. Then came Geddy Lee and a bunch of other Rickenbacker bassists. Need I say more?
I got my first Rickenbacker, brand 4001, new in 1981 from Sam Ash in White Plains, NY. Of course it was Jetglo.

Hello old friends,
I grew up in South Jersey ("The Shore") and have been living in Virginia for over 38 years. My fascination with Rickenbacker basses started when I was 6 or 7 years old and I was looking at the pictures from my mom's copy of Magical Mystery Tour and I noticed Paul McCartney playing his Rickenbacker 4001S. Then a few years later my cousin Nick was the bass player in a band and he bought a brand new 1975 White Rickenbacker 4001 with black trim at Sam Ash in Paramus, NJ...it was absolutely stunning. As I got older and wanting to play guitar, and then bass, I noticed that a lot of the music I liked (Yes, Rush, The Who, Thin Lizzy) all the bass players were playing Rickenbacker basses. Flash forward to October 1980 when I was 15 and I saved all my money washing dishes at a local pizza joint and I bought a 1979 4001 in Burgandyglo...and all these years later my favorite bass to play is either my 1999 4001v63 or my 1996 4003S.
