Although the photos aren't the clearest... this '75 4001 on the bay looks like it's been "whitewashed":

Does anyone know what finish designation this might be? Or are we looking at a "non-factory" finish here?

I believe it is called mapleglo ... and it is also called bad photography ...

Is it just me, or does that guard look to small, or are the knobs to big? Just doesn't look right.

You're quite right, Scott. Those knobs simply are not original Rickenbacker parts.

Yeah, and I believe that finish (?) to be a lousy refinish, as Alvaro points out.

I was wondering about this one myself. Looks totally questionable.

What kind of finish is this?
