8-string Redneck

I've got a 4003/8 Redneck I picked up a couple of years ago. Can't find any information (including any idea of value for insurance) at all about this beast. Serial number is A199160 (Jan '88). Rickenbacker have confirmed that it's probably a Redneck (to quote Tommy Thomasson):
"The Rednecks were made in late 87 to early 88, so it is very possible that you have one. It would be a 4003s/8 Redneck, here is a link to a 4
string version, if they look the same that's what you've got."
Has anyone seen one, or know anything about this bass, including some rough gauge of value? I'm a little scared to use it much (in case it's rare/unusual/etc), and am considering selling it and replacing with something i'm not as freaked out to play.

Don't sell it! Buy a bass to play but keep that bass, because years from now you just might be very sorry with yourslf for getting rid of it.
BTW, how was the moon?

The moon...hmmm, I only laugh now if I hear a truely good one, so sorry guys, gonna have to say...
It screwed with my intonation!

ha!
The Redneck would be even better if it was mint (a couple of small scratches, and a small chunk from the headstock), but it's pretty damn good. Cost me half of my 4003AG!

Without a strong, gripping, wide strap it's horribly neck-heavy, but the toaster in the neck position gives it such a different bark to my 4003.
I kinda doubt that i'd ever sell it (I plan to retire using this, my '64 Burns and my '69 Mustang fretless!). Although I certainly would be tempted if a 4005 came wandering along...
I'll take some pix and post up in the next day or two!

That looks like the one that sold last November on ebay. I wonder how many of these are running around?

First 8-string Redhead I've ever seen, so I'll ask the obvious, were there any Tuxedo's or Blackstar 8's made ?

I've never heard of any, but I know of at least 1 5-string Blackstar.
