is it possible to have the neck reverse wound to make the pickups hum cancelling when using both. i love my rick, but i play out often and the hum is kind of getting to me. i also read in a thread recently about mu-metal, but can't seem to find any.
does anyone have any recommendations?

This is a way to reduce hum without changing your neck pickup .... I put a Seymour Duncan 1/4 pound jazz neck pickup in the bridge mute slot ... I wire it in with the neck pickup volume control.

Or you can pry off the magnet and glue it on upside down and reverse the + and - wiring

Also a noise gate will cut the hum ...

I play Nu-metal ... www.m2midnight.com

The 4003s5 is a great bass for Nu-metal ...

You can also shield them with sticky copper, I did that to two rics years ago and they were so quiet I could play right in front of neon lights.

But that's no good, then you don't have any string mutes!!! How do you mute the strings properly? Can you adjust the pickup so that it touches the strings?
