It's probably there so the tech on the show (was this from the show?) doesn't plug it into the wrong jack.

Will used to have a 4005 (JG?); I asked him about it at NAMM, but he sold it years back. Legend has it that upon seeing McGuinn play his signature model, Will took a sharpie and signed his name on the pickguard, so he could have "his own signature model too."
