I'm Surprised

I lurk here from time to time and I am a little surprised that the 40th anniversary of the Beatles playing the DC Coliseum came and went without mention.

To the extent that this is a part of the Rickenbacker Forum, Washingtonian Magazine did a very good article on the show in this most recent issue, which includes a few pictures of Lennon playing his 325. Though it looks like you can't link to any of the pictures on the website.

I tried to observe the anniversary at my house by playing the film from the concert. I have that cheesy "Beatles Unathorized" DVD that includes nearly all of 8 of the 12 songs from the show. Definitely worth the $15 for the ****** DVD.

Shame on us. I thought it was interesting that The Beatles total amp power was 400 watts. Put that against about 10,000 screaming girls and would do you have?

I'll be getting my copy of the dvd this weekend! It's on my "to do" list....

On another note...I went to the 1964 The Tribute concert at GWU in DC the other week and there was a petition going around the lobby to save the Washington Center where that first concert was held....evidently someone wants to turn it into a parking lot or something.....such a shame!!

Joe,
I have two cousins from Long Island who went to their Shea Stadium show and said they couldn't hear anything at all from The Beatles when they played, only the shreaking. They weren't at the back either.
