I know this is a stretch,....but living in a real small town in Ohio, I realize that I have virtually no chance of ever meeting such a Rickenbacker celebrity such as Chris Squire. My wife and I have been to many shows in the area but I've never gotten the opportunity to even get close.(We're talking 25+ years). But,,some of you guys have access to the NAMM shows and are very fortunate enough to talk and be photographed with him.......My question is, have any of you ever invited him to visit our forum?...I mean,yea, he's famous but in his down time I'm sure he surfs the web just like anybody else, It would be real cool to chat with him. It would shine a light on a lot of questions.

I...um...met him back in November '74. He invited myself and a couple of friends up to his hotel room and we chatted for over an hour. I won't mention the time I jammed with Jon Anderson or the breakfast a friend and I had with them either!

Maybe it helps to have a hot looking friend.

I met him at NAMM '04, he was very nice. We talked for, oh, I don't know, 60 seconds, but he was cool.

Chris Squire visiting the Forum? Now that would be totally rad! I mean, the coolest CEO in the world drops in from time to time on the Rickenbacker Forum. Why shouldn't one of the coolest Rick bass players in the world do the same? How should one go about inviting Chris to post in here? Any ideas?

I bet Jon Hall could drop him a line?. Maybe if we all behaved and said pretty please.Image Or perhaps Peter could come up with some kind of formal invitation? I dunno, like I said at the top of the post, Its a stretch.

I just sent an email invitation to the webmaster at Chris' website asking him to please forward it on to Chris. I thought I'd give it a try anyway. I'll forward a copy to Peter.

I met Chris at an after party in Seattle about 4 years ago. He was very pleasant.

Does any famous Bass player other than Chris Squire play a Rickenbacker these days anymore (as a well used main instrument???? ) The only other ones I can think of is Geddy Lee and He has not played one for about 20 years. OR- Mike Meseros(sp?) of the Smithereens, but, I saw them about 4 years ago and no Ricks in sight. SO Anyone??

I think it would be cool if Squire posted here, and a honor if the chance arose to ask a question, but just think, once the word got out how flooded the website could get with Yes fans, trying to get a word in, or just to see whats up."

P.S. I forgot to mention Lemmy too. Who else I forget? anybody??

Here's the response from the webmaster;

Thanks, I’ll forward the invitation but I want to set your expectations: Chris really isn’t a computer type of guy so don’t be disappointed if you don’t get a response.

It depends on your definition of "famous", but Dave Meros of Spock's Beard uses Rickenbackers extensively; I have invited him to join us, he said that he would give it a try. I hope he does, based on the few times we have e-mailed back and forth he seems like a great guy.

Dave Meros of Spock`s Beard has, in my opinion, the best Rickenbacker Tone these past years, of course if you like the Ric "growly" tone. He is a really nice guy and I encourage any Ric crazy fanatic to listen to his basslines, which are very impressive.
