Series/parallell wiring pickips on a 4001?

Has anyone tried to wire in a series/parallell switch for the pickups in a 4001 or 4003?
I know this can be done on Jazz basses with a fatter sound as a result. Never heard it been done on a Rick though.
Are the pickups wired parallell on a stock 4001/4003?

They are wired in parallel on a stock bass.
No reason you couldn't wire in a series switch, but why? Jazz basses may need fattening up, but most Ric players would disagree with the need to do this.

I don“t feel the need to do it. Im just curious.
And it is quite amazing how fat a Rickenbacker can sound espcially the Horseshue pup IMO.
Would probably be too much boom in series with a toaster.

I tried it on my customized 4004L5 ... I put in a toggle switch that went series, parallel, single ... I decided to stick with the stock series wiring ...
I don't think a modern 4003 would benifit from a series wiring ... If you want to fatten up the sound of a 4001, then take out the bass cut capaciter ... and/or use modern 4003 pickups.
