On another forum there is a posting which refers to a John Lennon signature 325/12. However on looking at the Rickenbacker site there is no mention in the totals of a 325/12 for the Lennon series. Did Rickenbacker produce such a guitar or would this likely be a 355/12 ?

Most likely a 355/12.

Due to interest from many Beatles enthusiasts, the following special vintage edition guitars were temporarily available. Orders were accepted only until 18 October 1999. There were 136 Model 325/12V63 ordered. (I Have one)

Do you know if these are included in the model 325 totals for the Lennon series on the Rickenbacker website or are they additional ?
(I'm assuming from what you say they are "Lennon Series" guitars with certificate)

The John Lennon Limited Edition series did not include a short scale twelve stringer. These were simply a limited product run not related to that series. If someone else posted elsewhere as such, they're just mistaken.

Mr Hall thanks for clearing this up for me. Why I was asking is that the guitar mentioned was for sale and I was thinking of inquiring about it. At least now I am clear that if it is indeed a "Lennon Series" it must be a 355/12.

Pick one up if it's available to you - it's a neat little guitar -- I'm not sure but I think it was used on Dear Prudence ?

I have one of the 325/12's from 1999. It's a great little 12 string and one one of the first models to have the scatterwound pickups I believe. I think it's in the photo archives somewhere on Peter's site listed under my name.

Very good question. We could make a constest out of this one. I am guessing that it would be in the $1299 US range. Perhaps John Hall can let us know.

John: I would be grateful if you would simply tell us. I would be willing to reserve this decision, however, should RIC have a prize to offer the winner?

Enlighten us if you will. Number 718 has come to the family, it still has the dealer receipt from Ric and the warranty card in the case. It's the first time I've had my hands on a 355, nice guitar, but light!

KJ: You will love the 355JL (Model 350) it is a great player and a beautiful looking instrument. I also consider that you will appreciate the larger scale compared to the Model 325. You have to love the contrasting black and white of the 355JL.
