Check out the black on black 4003. Are these Japanese made instruments?

All Rickenbacker instruments are made in America.

Are these special order for the Japanese market? I've never seen that offered here.

It looks like a black on black with no binding.

I like that. That neck looks like the ones from the 60's, fast, slim and a the edges are a little more rounded than ones with binding.

It's the standard 4003 BT JG that was offered worldwide for many years. These are from the final run since all BT parts have now been discontinued for lack of demand.

Thanks for clearing that up. The response from the website was in Japanese and i had just a little trouble understanding.

Interesting about the demand for the parts. To me it looks like a blackstar bass with triangle inlays.

Looks very cool to me.

too bad about the black trim being discontinued ... but the good news is my 4 black trim Rics can only go up in value ...

I say dump the gold trim and bring back the black trim ...

I was thinking the new 4004CII5 basses ... translucent red with black trim instead of gold trim ... it would look better and last longer ...

I finally heard from the Rickenbacker distributor in Japan. He said he is sold out but, even if he wasn't he can't sell it to the US.

I'm sure it's more expensive than what you can buy here. The cost of living in Japan is extremely high.

The fact that I've never had gold hardware on an instrument that remained looking good after a couple of years even with lots of loving care is my complaint about it. I probably will be replacing the gold hardware not very long after I receive my 4004Cii5 unless the finish on that particular hardware holds up better than I expect it to.
