Best Buy On A Used Rickenbacker

The best buys are often had when obtaining a used Rickenbacker. My best buy was getting a used Model 4003 Silver bass for $500 US.
To top it all off, it was a pleasure to do business with the seller who even provided a new treble pickup after it was determined to be damaged.
Deals like this don't come around everyday. So what was your best buy on a used Rickenbacker?

I bought a 74 4001 off ebay for $401...It had Steve Howes (!?) autograph on the body. Now there is a clean spot where to signature used to be.

What is the S/N of that Steve Howe 4001? In the Steve Howe Guitar Collection book he shows a FG '74 4001 S/N NJ6074, is it yours?!! Look on page 85. Great book BTW if you haven't seen it, LOTS of wonderful instruments.

I bought a mint jetglo 83 4001FL in 1991 for $500.00 w/case. Got a 95 4003 jg last year for $550.00 that needed a treble pickup with case for a beater on a BIN 4 hours after the auction began and it plays and sounds great, one of the nicest Rics I have ever played.
