Value for money

Post by eatswodo »

While browsing through the Musician's Friend catalogue that arrived recently, I was struck by this: I could buy two American-made Rickenbackers for about the same price as one off-shore Gretsch.

No wonder there's a waiting list!

FMI is milking the Gretsch name for all it's worth, but I do hear that they are well built. They SHOULD be at what they charge for them.

I doubt that the Gretsch guitars are flying out the door at those prices, but first you satisfy the high end niche at exhorbitant prices before you dump the cheaper standard models on the market for more average owners. I'll bet that cheaper models are on the horizon.

Ive priced near mint mid '60's Tenneseans (sp?), and they're about the price of the new comparable model.
