Am I crazy????
I don't know about anyone else here but, before I play my C64S I wash my hands and put on a soft sweatshirt before picking it up to play. I even use a polish cloth to tune the bass!!!! I think I have OCD with this...lol!!! My band thinks I'm NUTS!!!! Nobody can come near me during practice with the fear that I will ding my baby. I wish I could get the first scratch/ding out of the way so I'm not so cautious about it!!! I'll say one thing....the action and smooth neck and playability of this bass is just amazing...especially with the satin finish. I can just move up and down the neck so smoothly it's like butter. The tones I can get out of it are everything I ever wanted. I've only had it 5 months and it's the best $*,@%&,000 I ever spent. I love RIC's!!! I even spend 10 minutes polishing it and the strings after use...PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP!!!!lol.
Next is a 5 string. Anyone have a 4001S 5'er for sale???? Hmmmm. maybe a 4004 conversion????

OOPS!!! That's a heck of a lot of money!!!! What I meant to say was I paid $*,@%&.00. However, I think a 4001CS might go for the other figure if "the bay" keeps going the way it is.. Just nuts.
By the way, does anyone know if the 4001C64S is going to be a limited run??? I've never heard if it's going to be a regular in the RIC line-up.

Crazy.
With OCD you will usually be making multiple hand washings as wellas a glove and a polishing cloth to tune your bass with chromatic/strobe surge suppressor protected rack mounted unit, plugged into a GFCI receptacle.
Your entire activities of daily living will be controlled by actions manifested by unreasonable fears.
You have RIC-O-Phobia, a RIC-tile dysfunction.
Seek appropriate help!

When I play I am sometimes sweaty, and sometimes the bar is smokey, I whack the bass with various fingers, picks, and sometimes drumsticks ... at the end of a song I sometimes slam it hard with a fist, knee or I slam it into the side of a speaker cabinet ... I once knocked one of my p-basses a whole step flat ... all five strings ... and I live in Michigan where it gets dry in the winter and humid during the summer ...
But my basses get cleaned and cared for ... they look and play better than most used intruments ...

I polish my guitar(s) after every playing session. I also wash my hands thoroughly before picking up a guitar. I'm cautious about the rivets in my Levy's and belt buckles. I do not let anyone play my guitars. Each guitar has a hardshell case. I almost died when my second wife (now on my third) dropped a pair of scissors on my 1966 Martin D-28. One month later I sold the piece for $400 because I couldn't even play it after that. I know how I got all my equipment and I'm very protective of everything I have. I treat other people's stuff the same way. There are those that don't pay attention to how their equipment or any others equipment gets handled. These are the people that have dings, dents, and scratches in their guitars and don't even care about it.

Scott, if you want that first dent or ding in it, just send it to me, I'll gladly do the honors for you.
Jeff, I play mine also. But I think you are nuttier than me, haha!
Did you read my story about my first Fender sliding down the cellar stairs and landing on the concrete floor when it was still almost new? My Showman cab that fell out of the pickup going up a hill? My SVT head that fell off the top of an 8 X 10 cab onto concrete (and didn't flinch) I've had some adventures with equipment. My 78 4001 fell off the stage a few months ago right onto the A key, the key was a little bent, I bent it back, good as new, but I was not happy about that at all. Especially since you can't get reverse tuners anymore.
I don't like dings, but I play in the same quality establishments as Jeff. I don't like it when I whack my basses (and Rics have damn good finishes), it pisses me off, but hey, if I want a pristine bass, I'll leave it at home (Which I do with two of them), My Sea Green and my 72 4001FL.
Most of mine are players, which is what I like and why I buy most of them. Nothing like a nice worn in Ric bass. Fits like a glove.
But....when I get back I think I'm going to use my 4003's more than my 4001's, they're becoming too valuable to use.
