Is anyone here from Columbus OH? I have to go there for work next week. I see Sound City Music is near my hotel. Wondering if it was a decent music shop and wondering if they'll let me bang on a new 4003 while I'm there.

I live here in Columbus, but have never been to Sound City Music. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't let you play one of thier basses though. There really aren't a lot of RIC dealers around here. German Village Music Haus (downtown) sometimes has a used RIC or two and Guitar Center now and then.
What days are you going to be in town? You can email me at [email protected] or [email protected] and let me know what your schedule is. I've got a 4003 and a 4000 at the abode.

I'll be flying in Saturday and will be staying until next Saturday. I also see you have a Sam Ash outside of town. I'm sure they'll have a few around. Thanks for the offer Randy. You might hear from me.

Sam Ash and Guitar Center are around 1/2 mile from each other on Morse rd., which is on the north end of town.

I lived in Columbus for a short while back in 1987. Bought a Harmonica from Van's Music in the Graceland shopping center, but they had no RICs. That's my extent of Columbus music store knowledge.

While you're there, grab a Donato's pizza and go to the Columbus Zoo if you can. Dublin's a nice suburb to stay in.

The String Shoppe on High Street near the south end of OSU had a 4003/5 the last time I was there a few years ago. I don't even really know if they are still around.

There's a Sound City Music in Troy Ohio, but its very small and you wont find any Ricks there.

Just got back from Columbus. A dry town when it comes to Rics. Not one Ric in the whole city. I went to all the music stores listed on the Ric sight for Columbus. Not a one. Sam Ash and Guitar Center included. Oh well. I did get to beat on a few decent Fenders, but no purchases.

I know this is way too late, but I figured I'd update some info;

the Stringe Shoppe, on High St. has two 360's (a 6 and a 12) - both FireGlo. beware- they are anal about letting anyone touch them (even though they're hanging on the wall with the rest of the guitars?) - maybe just because I'm a teenager they assume all I know is powerchords, and I drop guitars all the time.

Sam Ash on Morse Road has a 360-12 MapleGlo - they are insanely anal and even have it sealed in a glass case. (only one in the shop in a case, actually). you have to be a "serious buyer ($$)" to be able to touch it.

GuitarCenter, down the road from sam ash, has a few Ric's - 2 guitars and a bass... though I don't remember which kind. the one I played was a 360-12 mapleglo.
