Where are they coming from?

A "deal" @ $4001 USD

Maybe people are seeing the crazy prices they are going for and deciding to pull them out from under their beds and ontp the 'bay. In either case, I'm glad they are out there...I just won't be getting one anytime soon.

I was just about to post this one.

First off, to me, the only ones that are worth 4K must be mint. Simply having the bass isn't good enough. Condition affects collectible value greatly.What the case looks like, even how the certificate was kept matters. To me, this is worth about $2500, especially if you consider the fact that the bass was built as a collectible.

Now let's go back to my friend the 4001v63. This was meant to be players model.As the years go by, it will become harder and harder to find these in 8.5 or better condition.There are also color variations to throw into the mix as well.

What I'm suggesting here is that there are a MUCH higher percentage of 4001cs in mint condition that 4001v63's. Throw in the fact that players love the sound,the color variations it is my feeling is one day the value of the v63 could eclipse that of the cs.Lastly, we don't really know how many 4001v63's were produced. The mystery factor is always cool to collectors.

I still can,t see how any CS is worth $4K. More power to you if you can get that figure for one...If I had one, it would be on e bay now. There are plenty out there but this seems to be the bass that sellers are trying to promote as the next big thing. If it comes down to rarity, model desirability and eventual long term value, I,d rather have a seagreen V63, than a cream mass produced V63 with a signature pickguard...

Funny thing is, in the last few months, how many CS's have you seen on ebay compared to 4001v63's?

Andrew: Whenever you combine a tour with a limited run of a quality instrument things look good for the seller.

Absolutely Peter. High profiling usually translates into good marketing...Sell those CS,s while the boys are on tour and the market is hot!!!

The golden rule though, "Buy low, sell high".
