Does anyone know where the original Blue Boy instruments ended up?

Jeff, Steve was referring to the original three instruments finished in Blue Boy Blue, a 360F, a custom acoustic and a model 4000 bass. These were made circa 1960-61.

Andy, I think that they are all in Japan now; I have a recollection of seeing a recent picture with all 3 instruments together, but It may have been only two, I'm a little hazy on it....

John: You'll find one of them here if I am not mistaken.

That's it Peter. That's the only original Jim Reeve's Blue Boy I can remember seeing. I don't think the other two are accounted for. This 1961 360F Blue Boy is also pictured in the Japanese Rickenbacker book. One cool guitar.

Very nice indeed. Love that colour and the binding looks cool too. Check out that 68 A/G 4005 on the bass page...Gorgeous, as is the 4005 in blue boy that JW has...

I still think that RIC should offer the current Blue Boys with gold pickguards and TRC's. Very sharp indeed!

We do offer it that way, if you order a 660 or 660/12 BB. It does look pretty sharp.

Kenny - how about on a 4003? I actually have a 4003 BB arriving today. Any chance of swapping out my pickguard and TRC for gold ones?

Ixnay, Steve - I won't argue that it'd look great, but that's getting into sort of wacky custom stuff which would certainly be cool, but we've just got too much on our plate to be able to do that right now.

I figured as much Kenny, but it never hurts to ask! Well, sometimes it does....
