Just checking the serial number wasn't a typo. This is for sale in the UK on preloved........E28717

Hmm. Weird. Plenty of typos to go around, it seems!

Stolen post on RRF: B2 9717

Cert of current guitar for sale: #41 - E2 8717 (possible, but very doubtful that RIC would goof on the cert)

RRF register lists:
#41 - E2 8617 (cert shown without serial - likely this should be 8717)
#42 - E2 8716 (reverse order, but still consecutive, likely correct)

I'm guessing it's the stolen axe.

I think it more likely that E2 8617 is actually E2 8717 and is the same guitar as the one for sale now... The SN was collected from a grainy picture of the jackplate and is likely in error. (IN the notes on the entry you can see the collector (me) also thought it might be E2 8647). I doubt RIC would issue two certificates to number 41.

Real question is what is the certificate number for the stolen SH - B2 9717? I doubt it is 41.

I would conclude this is unlikely to be the stolen guitar - just an SH with a similar SN.

Someone at RIC would likely be the only folks who could know for sure...

From the factory records:

B29717 is certificate number 21, shipped 2/17/1989.

E28717 is #41, shipped 5/5/1989.

E28716 is indeed #42, also shipped 5/5/1989.

I should have mentioned that E2 8617 was not a Susanna Hoffs instrument again confirming this was likely a typo.

Thanks for clearing that up John!

So folks here can buy the SH for sale in the UK knowing it is not stolen property... Amazing how far it traveled from Santa Anna over the years.
